About the role

Role overview

Effodio is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer (Tech Lead) to design and build its application analytics platform. This is primarily an Individual Contributor role, with an expected split of 80% hands-on engineering and 20% mentorship, process improvement, and strategic planning.

Responsibilities

Design & development: Collaborate with engineering leadership and product managers to design and implement new features and platform enhancements.
Backend engineering: Write efficient, well-structured, and well-documented code in Go.
Full SDLC ownership: Lead development from architecture/design → coding → testing → deployment → iteration.
Kubernetes & cloud integration: Develop and operate containerized services on Kubernetes; use cloud services to improve scalability, reliability, and operations.
Cloud/network-aware architecture: Design service-to-service communication, traffic routing, security boundaries, and scalable backend services for cloud environments.
Performance & reliability: Identify and resolve bottlenecks; apply best practices for high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery.
Mentorship & technical leadership: Mentor and coach junior engineers; lead complex technical initiatives that may span multiple teams; support roadmap/resource planning.
Troubleshooting: Triage and resolve complex technical issues to maintain platform stability and efficiency.
Adaptability: Take on additional responsibilities as priorities evolve.

Requirements

7+ years of backend-focused software engineering experience.
Proven experience designing and building large-scale, production-grade systems.
Go proficiency (or strong ability to learn new languages quickly).
Practical and/or conceptual knowledge of Kubernetes.
Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform.
Strong system architecture skills: microservices and distributed systems in cloud environments.
Familiarity with cloud networking concepts (e.g., VPCs, service connectivity, access control, secure service communication).
Demonstrated ability to optimize for performance, scalability, and reliability.
Strong collaboration skills in distributed, cross-functional teams.
