About the role

Role Overview

Senior Backend Software Engineer on the Distribution Team, building and improving products that connect Cloudbeds’ ecosystem to major global distribution channels.

Responsibilities

Design and implement robust backend features in PHP, focusing on performance optimization and scalability
Architect secure solutions for financial transactions and sensitive personal data using security best practices
Write clean, well-tested, well-documented code with comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end coverage
Lead technical discussions and drive alignment between backend and frontend architecture with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Help with microservices migration and contribute to the long-term technical vision
Re-architect and refactor legacy systems to meet modern standards
Mentor team members via pair programming and code reviews
Collaborate cross-functionally to plan, build, and ship high-quality features that support a global customer base

Requirements

5+ years of PHP web application engineering experience
Strong hands-on experience with Docker and containerized development workflows
Expertise in performance optimization and relational databases (including indexing and searching)
Strong understanding of security for systems handling financial and personal data
Experience with test automation across levels (unit, integration, end-to-end)
Track record of owning projects and delivering results independently
Business-level English fluency (verbal and written)

Nice-to-Haves

Experience with microservices migrations and legacy-to-modern refactoring (explicitly aligned with the team’s initiative)
Ability to drive architecture decisions across backend and frontend
