Role overview
Join Affirm as a Senior Backend Software Engineer in a full-remote role. You will help ensure the robustness and scalability of Affirm’s cloud infrastructure, driving improvements in observability and reliability while fostering a culture of quality and ownership.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to the team’s technical strategy and lead execution on critical, business-impacting projects.
- Collaborate with product development teams to ensure long-term technical sustainability.
- Identify and manage risks and trade-offs across engineering initiatives.
- Promote a quality/ownership culture by setting code review and design standards.
Requirements
- Experience delivering major features/system components and executing technical plans (including deprecating existing functionality).
- Strong ability to write high-quality code that is readable and reusable.
- Mastery of gathering and iterating on feedback with engineering and cross-functional peers.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills for cloud and distributed systems.
- Comfortable moving between low-level implementation details and system architecture.
- Proven track record of developing and deploying highly available distributed systems.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
