Senior Backend Software Developer

Role: Senior Backend Software Developer (Remote - US)

BitPay is seeking a Senior Backend Software Developer to help build and evolve backend systems that power secure cryptocurrency payments products.

What you’ll do

• Develop scalable and maintainable backend systems using Node.js and MongoDB
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features for customers and internal tools
• Ensure high code quality with unit, integration, and functional testing, code reviews, and thorough documentation
• Tackle challenges in scalability, reliability, and logging
• Mentor and guide other developers to support growth and knowledge sharing
• Stay current on emerging technologies to keep the team competitive

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience
• Strong expertise in Node.js and MongoDB
• Experience delivering production-ready APIs
• Strong continuous learning and process improvement mindset
• Track record of high-quality software delivery in professional environments
• Portfolio showcasing work (e.g., GitHub)

Highly preferred

• Blockchain or fintech development experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
