Role: Senior Backend Engineer

You will build the backend systems that let apps and AI agents query ZeroDrift in milliseconds to determine whether a message is allowed. This is a hands-on individual contributor role with ownership over architecture as one of the first engineers.

What you will own

• Connectivity layer for AI agents and developer frameworks: proxies, SDKs, and agent tooling
• Policy backend: connectors, ingest of rule sources and restricted lists, and the engine that keeps rules current
• Enforcement controls: decisions on what each agent is allowed to do
• Performance & reliability: low latency and high reliability under enterprise load (in the path of every message)
• Security & data protection: high bar for protecting sensitive content

What you bring

• 5+ years building and running production backends at scale
• Strong in a modern backend language such as Go, Python, Java, or Node.js
• Solid understanding of APIs, distributed systems, databases, queues, and caching
• Comfort with cloud, containers, and CI/CD
• Strong focus on latency, reliability, and clean code

Bonus points

• Experience with low-latency / real-time systems
• Built SDKs, proxies, or other developer-facing infrastructure
• Worked with sensitive or regulated data

Work setup

• Hybrid: 3 days/week in office at 4 World Trade Center, New York City, with the rest remote
