Senior Backend Engineer (Team Atlas)

Role overview

Join Taktile as a Senior Backend Engineer (Team Atlas). You will build and own the data infrastructure powering a feature computation platform, taking end-to-end responsibility from architecture to deployment, monitoring, and incident response.

Key missions

• Design, develop, and maintain Python backend services on AWS, with emphasis on AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, Aurora, and event-driven pipelines.
• Make key architectural decisions and own systems end-to-end (architecture → implementation → deployment → monitoring → incident response).
• Raise team quality through code reviews, mentoring, and improving development tools/processes.

Requirements

• Ability to work in a hybrid model from Berlin HQ, London office, or Iasi hub (no relocation assistance).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; align technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Deep expertise in Python and building backend systems on cloud platforms (AWS).
• Strong system design skills; comfortable making and defending architectural trade-offs.
• Depth in at least one area:
  • Data pipelines and storage
  • Event-driven architectures
  • Caching and performance
  • Serverless systems
• 5+ years professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years leading complex projects in a senior capacity.

Nice-to-haves / additional skills

• Apache Iceberg, AWS Athena, AWS Glue, or Apache Spark
• Multi-level caching strategies (e.g., Redis, DynamoDB, in-memory)
• Serverless at scale (e.g., Lambda, SAM, CloudFormation)
• Streaming / real-time pipelines (e.g., Kinesis)
