About the role
Role Overview
Join Stability AI as a Senior Backend Engineer working on public REST APIs and backend services that support AI/ML applications. You’ll design scalable systems, write production-quality code, and collaborate cross-functionally across product, design/research, and engineering.
Key Missions & Responsibilities
- Design and implement public REST APIs and backend services, including data storage and ML backend services
- Write clean, extensible, production-grade code in Python and TypeScript
- Apply telemetry, scalability, debuggability, and security best practices
- Identify performance bottlenecks and contribute to on-call incident management
- Partner with product management, design, research, and engineering to deliver high-quality, user-friendly products
- Produce comprehensive technical documentation (API docs, design documents)
Requirements
- 5+ years designing and building REST APIs and distributed services for high-scale products
- 2+ years building production AI/ML applications
- Strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Nice to Haves
- Experience with Node.js, Cloudflare Workers, Postgres, and NoSQL databases
- Experience building robust backend services on Kubernetes and major cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)
- Experience with streaming multi-modal content (audio/video)
