Senior Backend Engineer

Role Overview

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Quo, you will spend most of your time coding, architecting, and owning moderate to complex backend components. You may also lead a small team or project, and help deliver small/medium projects end-to-end.

Potential Areas of Focus

• AI and advanced technologies to help customers manage and derive insights from their data
• Optimizing customer onboarding
• Enabling users to independently set up, manage, and scale accounts via a seamless and compliant process
• Improving core messaging/calling features, customer data management, and the visibility of conversations and contacts
• Supporting scalable backend systems for a growing user base

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement backend services and features
• Own components and deliver projects end-to-end
• Provide technical guidance and perform code reviews
• Improve reliability and maintainability through thoughtful engineering

Requirements

• Strong experience with TypeScript (or experience with OOP languages such as Java or C# plus JavaScript/Node.js)
• Strong experience with observability (metrics, structured logging, distributed tracing)
• Takes ownership and communicates effectively
• Designs with customer, community, and team impact in mind; practices empathy and thoughtfulness
• Curious and driven to understand the “why” behind decisions; continuous learning
• Writes code that is readable, testable, and maintainable

Nice to Have / Tools Mentioned

• Experience with event-driven microservices
• Familiarity with the stack/tools used at Quo (Kubernetes, RabbitMQ, Datadog)
• Comfort with collaborative tools such as Figma, Linear, Notion, and Slack
