Senior Backend Engineer

Role Overview

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Quo, you will spend the majority of your time coding, architecting, and owning moderate to complex backend components. You may also lead a small team or project, provide technical guidance, and deliver small to medium end-to-end backend projects.

Potential Focus Areas

• AI + data insights: use AI and advanced technologies to help customers manage and derive insights from their data.
• Customer onboarding: optimize onboarding to support a smoother, compliant setup experience.
• Account scalability: enable users to independently set up, manage, and scale accounts.
• Messaging and calling: enhance core messaging/calling features.
• Customer data management: improve how conversation/contact visibility and customer data are handled.

Responsibilities

• Own backend components and ship production-ready changes.
• Architect and deliver backend capabilities that support a growing user base.
• Lead (as needed) small teams/projects.
• Provide code reviews, technical guidance, and ensure maintainable, testable code.

Requirements

• Strong experience with TypeScript; or experience with Java or C# alongside JavaScript/Node.
• Strong experience with observability tools, including:
  • metrics
  • structured logging
  • distributed tracing
• Ownership mindset and strong communication.
• Strong standards for code quality: readable, testable, maintainable, and improved over time.

Nice-to-Haves / Additional Tools

• Experience working with event-driven microservices.
• Familiarity with backend systems on AWS + Kubernetes, and common data stores.

Compensation

• $168,000 – $198,000 USD base salary (Chicago), plus equity and benefits.
