About the role
Role Overview
Join Filevine as a Senior Backend Engineer (Python) to design and evolve the company’s AI orchestration layer. You’ll deliver backend features end-to-end in a fast-moving production environment.
Key Missions
- Contribute to the design and evolution of the AI orchestration layer, building durable, fault-tolerant agentic workflows.
- Deliver features across the full lifecycle: from design and prototyping to implementation and deployment.
- Maintain engineering excellence through deep code reviews and comprehensive testing.
- Follow engineering standards, including the uv monorepo workspace.
- Mentor mid-level and junior engineers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional backend development.
- Expert mastery of Python (3.12+), including async/await.
- Strong experience with FastAPI and Pydantic v2.
- Proven production experience building complex distributed systems, ideally including durable workflow orchestration (e.g., Temporal or equivalent), plus message queues or event-driven architectures.
- Exceptional communication skills, able to explain agentic design decisions, reliability trade-offs, and LLM behavior.
Nice to Have / Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience).
- Growth mindset and strong collaborative approach with genuine passion for mentoring.
