About the role
Role Overview
Senior Backend Engineer on the Provider Integrations team at Trellis. Build and scale systems that connect Savvy to 150+ insurance carrier and partner APIs. Lead complex projects, mentor teammates, and help foster a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Architect and build reliable integration infrastructure connecting Savvy to 150+ carrier/partner APIs.
- Lead complex projects by defining scope, setting technical direction, and mentoring teammates.
- Own end-to-end provider integrations, including:
- Scoping partner specifications
- Building provider connectors
- Validating against live traffic
- Maintaining field mappings and business rules
- Deliver high-quality, well-tested technical solutions.
Requirements
- 5+ years developing software in a production environment.
- 2+ years in a senior engineer role.
- Strong backend engineering experience, including:
- Designing RESTful APIs
- Codifying business logic on top of data stores
- Deep expertise in system architecture and design.
- Production experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Familiarity with cloud environments, especially Google Cloud.
- Product-minded approach: focus on the “why” as well as the “what/how.”
- Excellent communication skills (e.g., Slack and technical documentation).
- Cross-functional collaboration and ability to operate autonomously.
