Senior Backend Engineer (Product)

Role overview

Senior Backend Engineer (Product) working in a cross-functional product team to own and evolve a shared product area. You’ll build and improve financial infrastructure that delivers measurable value to businesses across Europe.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines to own and evolve a shared product area.
• Build robust, scalable backend services for financial infrastructure.
• Understand the "why" behind product decisions; challenge assumptions and proactively identify improvement opportunities.
• Take ownership of outcomes (not just code) by engaging in customer issues and improving team processes.
• Work with product managers and stakeholders to discuss trade-offs and technical constraints.
• Collaborate with frontend and mobile engineers to design end-to-end solutions.
• Maintain high quality through automated testing, thorough code reviews, and security best practices.

Requirements

• Strong, hands-on expertise in .NET and C#.
• Experience architecting and evolving distributed systems in production.
• Built data-intensive applications and understands the concepts of working in a regulated environment.
• At least 5 years of professional backend development with a product mindset.
• Clear communication in English across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong business acumen connecting engineering work to company objectives.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with adjacent domains (e.g., reviewing frontend code, asking about ML models, or using analytics to understand feature performance).
• Experience mentoring colleagues and/or improving team processes proactively.
