Senior Backend Engineer

Role Overview

Join Procurify as a Senior Backend Engineer and provide technical leadership on the Platform team. You’ll design and build core APIs, maintain critical third-party integrations, strengthen platform architecture, and mentor other engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design and build core APIs: take a lead role in the end-to-end design, development, and maintenance of internal and external APIs.
• Build and maintain integrations: serve as the hands-on expert for third-party integrations, including connections to key Accounting/ERP systems.
• Mentor and elevate the team: coach engineers via technical mentorship, lead by example in code reviews, and contribute to technical design sessions.

Requirements

• Backend engineering experience: 5+ years focused on backend development in a cloud-native/SaaS environment.
• Architectural mindset: strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and API-first design, with pragmatic decisions balancing near-term needs and long-term scalability.
• API/services expertise: proven ability to design, build, and maintain resilient, scalable APIs and backend services.
• Python + modern frameworks: strong command of Python and experience with frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Mentorship and collaboration: passion for leveling up teammates through technical design guidance, coding best practices, and problem-solving.
• Integration experience: hands-on experience building and maintaining complex third-party API integrations; direct experience with NetSuite or QuickBooks Online is a major advantage.

Nice to Have

• AI & ML: deep understanding of LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG architectures, vector databases (e.g., Databricks/pgVector), and agentic AI frameworks such as LangChain or similar.
