Senior Backend Engineer (Platform & Infrastructure)

Role Overview

Senior Backend Engineer (Platform & Infrastructure) at Prismatic (fully remote). You’ll help shape product capabilities and user outcomes by building and operating the platform and infrastructure that power Prismatic’s integrations.

Responsibilities

• Participate in technical decision-making, planning, and mentorship.
• Write clean, maintainable, production-ready backend code for infrastructure and related product systems.
• Lead projects from conception through production deployment, collaborating with engineers, designers, product managers, and business stakeholders.
• Build and evolve large-scale, distributed production systems.
• Tackle complex CI/CD scenarios and support automated engineering best practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive professional software development with a track record of technical leadership and architectural contributions (ideally in startups).
• Experience implementing AWS-based cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (notably Terraform) and Docker.
• Strong experience in TypeScript/JavaScript and Python ecosystems.
• Hands-on experience building and operating FaaS environments (e.g., AWS Lambda).
• Advocate for engineering excellence and automated testing.
• Ability to write code that is easy for others to understand and maintain.
• Committed to a communicative, collaborative environment.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with AI coding agents to accelerate development.
• Experience with Redis, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, and GitLab CI/CD.
• Strong familiarity with GitHub (or similar) and development workflows.
• Opinions on how to best use AI coding agents in engineering processes.
