Senior Backend Engineer - Payroll - EST

Role overview

Join HiBob as a Senior Backend Engineer (Payroll). You’ll own the end-to-end development lifecycle—from technical design to deployment and monitoring—working in close collaboration with the product team.

Key missions

• Actively develop the Payroll product, partnering closely with Product.
• Own the full development cycle: technical design → deployment → monitoring.
• Work within a continuous delivery environment with fully automated QA.
• Build and evolve a microservices architecture.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong backend focus.
• Experience building customer-facing SaaS products from inception through launch (thousands of users).
• Strong collaboration with Product Managers; good judgment to advocate and navigate trade-offs.
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Excellent knowledge of software design and scalable architecture.
• Testing experience (e.g., unit testing, TDD, mocking).
• Experience with AWS (or equivalent cloud).
• Independent, fast learner; proactive team player.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kotlin, Java, or Scala.
• Experience building payroll/payments/HR products.
