Senior Backend Engineer

Role Overview

Join Openly as a Senior Backend Engineer in a remote-first environment. You will design, build, test, and maintain the backend services and technology powering Openly’s insurance platform.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and maintain backend services and core technology for the insurance platform.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop core systems.
• Integrate external services and build APIs that enhance user experiences.
• Provide subject-matter expertise, mentorship, and support to team members.
• Contribute to architectural discussions.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional/production experience developing backend web-stack applications.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Track record of improving business-critical systems with a focus on stability, performance, and scalability.
• Ability to deliver complete systems end-to-end with little or no supervision.
• Professional experience using Go in prior roles (includes completing a Go code challenge).
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (U.S. Citizens, Green Card holders, or currently authorized and residing in the U.S.).
