Senior Backend Engineer, Member Experience at Raya

Role Overview

Join Raya’s backend team to build and scale services that power subscriptions and social features for an exclusive creative community. This is a high-impact, autonomy-focused role in a remote-first environment.

Responsibilities

• Architect and lead backend services supporting member-facing social features.
• Take ownership of core systems built with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Manage the end-to-end subscription lifecycle, including:
  • Server-side receipt validation
  • Purchase verification via Apple StoreKit and Apple Pay
• Collaborate with designers and data scientists to deliver scalable, user-centric solutions that improve the member experience.

Requirements

• 6+ years building and scaling production backend systems in fast-paced startup environments.
• Strong mastery of Node.js and TypeScript with a track record of maintainable, high-performance architecture.
• Server-side experience with Apple StoreKit or Apple Pay, specifically subscription payments for B2C products.

Nice to Have

• Experience working cross-functionally with product/design/data teams to deliver user-centric outcomes.
