Senior Backend Engineer

Role overview

You will join as a Senior Backend Engineer to design and implement solutions primarily in Java, maintaining and enhancing Friendsurance’s multi-tenant white-label B2B2C SaaS platform. You’ll also help develop new products with AI integration.

Key missions

• Design and implement backend solutions in Java for a multi-tenant white-label B2B2C SaaS platform
• Maintain and enhance existing products
• Develop new products with AI integration
• Collaborate with teammates across functions
• Review test cases, designs, and code written by others

Responsibilities & collaboration

• Take work from idea to production and troubleshoot across the stack
• Coach and train team members and help shape engineering culture
• Contribute to high-quality engineering through collaboration (writing clearly, pairing, whiteboard discussions)

Requirements

• 5+ years building Java backend systems with Spring and Hibernate
• Strong understanding of data structures and relational models
• Experience with monoliths and microservices
• Experience with asynchronous communication (queues, events, messaging)
• Ability to design practical architecture while balancing long-term quality and short-term delivery
• Experience in a startup or fast-moving product environment
• Fluent English communication
• Ability to apply AI tools practically for productivity and what you build
