About the role
Role Overview
Edia is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help scale its Node.js applications on AWS. The team leverages AI-assisted development, expecting most coding to be performed by AI tools—your role is to direct that process, ensure quality, and ship reliable systems.
Responsibilities
- Architect and oversee backend systems across Edia’s product suite and internal tooling
- Guide AI coding assistants to implement large-scale changes and new features
- Review, debug, and refine AI-generated code to production standards
- Use AI internally to automate business operations
- Ship full-stack features end-to-end (beyond backend)
Requirements
- Strong ability to read and understand code (human- or AI-generated)
- Excellent debugging skills and strong bug detection
- Ability to envision large architectural changes and break them into steps an AI can execute
- Strong context switching to manage multiple in-flight tasks
- Experience with Node.js and cloud infrastructure (notably AWS), including containers and managed databases
- Ability to work across multiple codebases and domains
- Good judgment on when to accept or challenge AI suggestions
- Comfortable with ambiguity and taking ownership of loosely defined problems
Nice to Have
- Frontend experience (React)
- Startup experience
Compensation
- $180K – $250K (annual)
