Role overview

Join Frontify’s Developer Experience team as a Senior Backend Engineer (Developer Experience). You’ll collaborate with product managers, stakeholders, and engineers to build and optimize a dynamic, scalable platform, improve reliability and extensibility, and contribute to key architectural decisions.

Key missions / responsibilities

Partner with product managers, stakeholders, and engineers to build and optimize a scalable backend platform.
Contribute to architectural decisions and drive technical excellence with a backend-at-scale focus.
Ensure efficient data structures and clear API interfaces.
Design, develop, and implement solutions for hyperscaling integrations with third-party systems.
Improve extensibility and support external developers via strong documentation.
Provide coaching and mentoring to fellow engineers and collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams.

Requirements

Strong ability to write unit and integration tests.
Solid understanding of error handling, logging, and observability.
Familiar with testing frameworks; knowledge of component composition, reusability, accessibility, maintainability, and performance best practices.
Experience in web application backend development using one or more of: PHP, Java, Python, Go, or equivalent; eager to use PHP as daily driver.
Ability to build software end-to-end with solid understanding of the frontend, including exposure to React.
Experience defining and maintaining contracts and interfaces.
Deep understanding of API design, including REST and GraphQL, plus principles for secure, scalable, maintainable APIs and relevant networking/web protocols.
Experience building products where developers are the customer (understanding their needs and designing for them).
Comfortable working in a changing, collaborative environment.

Ability to work remotely from anywhere in the UK or on-site in London (mix allowed).
