Senior Backend Engineer

Role Overview

Join Dailymotion as a Senior Backend Engineer on the Core Toolkit team. You will build and own critical infrastructure, drive technical modernization, and empower other teams with reliable backend services and developer-focused platforms.

Key Missions

• Build and own critical infrastructure: take full responsibility for the administration API and the asynchronous task orchestration platform.
• Evolve the async task orchestration platform to make it more reliable, scalable, and developer-friendly.
• Support engineers across the organization by providing expert guidance on:
  • Administration API
  • Task orchestration
  • Logging/audit systems
  • Feature management

Responsibilities

• Own backend services end-to-end and communicate clearly with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
• Provide architectural judgment for modernizing legacy components and driving pragmatic improvements.

Requirements

• Strong backend fundamentals: API design (REST, GraphQL), authentication/authorization, distributed systems, async processing, and queueing systems.
• Architectural judgment: ability to analyze legacy systems and design a practical modernization path.
• Fluency in French (mandatory).
• Hands-on experience leveraging AI-assisted development workflows while understanding limitations.
• Polyglot mindset: experience with multiple languages; examples include Python, Go, PHP, Java, TypeScript.
• Ownership & communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Cloud & infrastructure fluency: AWS/GCP/Azure and hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• 5+ years of backend engineering experience operating production systems at scale.
• Database expertise across relational and NoSQL systems (data modeling, query optimization, operational trade-offs).
• Background in audit logging, traceability, and compliance-oriented architectures.
• Experience migrating/modernizing legacy systems in production.
• Familiarity with high-throughput systems handling millions of requests/day.
• Go experience is key and central to upcoming projects.

• English proficiency.
