About the role
Role overview
Join Kalepa’s Client Integrations team as a Senior Backend Engineer. You’ll design and build API endpoints, improve database/query performance, and integrate with third-party services—while collaborating with a global engineering team and owning your work end to end.
Responsibilities
- Design and build API endpoints for external/client-facing integrations
- Improve database performance and optimize queries
- Integrate with third-party services and translate product requirements into reliable business logic
- Debug and resolve customer issues related to integrations and backend behavior
- Collaborate with a global team to deliver scalable backend solutions and drive projects to completion
Requirements
- Python (main stack) with strong backend engineering fundamentals
- Relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL
- Experience with serverless technologies (e.g., Lambda, EC2) and cloud environments
- Experience with asynchronous workflows
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Preferably experience building external-facing APIs and 3rd-party system integrations
- Strong skills in system design, debugging, and problem-solving
- Proactive communication: surfacing blockers and keeping stakeholders informed
Nice to have
- Experience with LLMs / generative AI
- Experience with distributed systems
- Comfort with experimentation: testing ideas, measuring results, and iterating quickly
