Role overview

Join Kalepa’s Client Integrations team as a Senior Backend Engineer. You’ll design and build API endpoints, improve database/query performance, and integrate with third-party services—while collaborating with a global engineering team and owning your work end to end.

Responsibilities

Design and build API endpoints for external/client-facing integrations
Improve database performance and optimize queries
Integrate with third-party services and translate product requirements into reliable business logic
Debug and resolve customer issues related to integrations and backend behavior
Collaborate with a global team to deliver scalable backend solutions and drive projects to completion

Requirements

Python (main stack) with strong backend engineering fundamentals
Relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL
Experience with serverless technologies (e.g., Lambda, EC2) and cloud environments
Experience with asynchronous workflows
5+ years of software engineering experience
Preferably experience building external-facing APIs and 3rd-party system integrations
Strong skills in system design, debugging, and problem-solving
Proactive communication: surfacing blockers and keeping stakeholders informed

Nice to have

Experience with LLMs / generative AI
Experience with distributed systems
Comfort with experimentation: testing ideas, measuring results, and iterating quickly
