Senior Backend Engineer

Role Overview

Join Caspar Health as a Senior Backend Engineer (full remote). You will design and improve high-performance APIs and services, build LLM-powered and multi-agent workflows, and raise the bar on code quality and test automation.

Key Missions

• Architectural & Backend Engineering:
  • Design, build, and improve high-performance APIs and services powering the Caspar Health app.
• AI Frontier:
  • Design and improve LLM-powered workflows.
  • Contribute to building a multi-agent environment.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Partner with Product, UX, DevOps, and Engineering to deliver robust solutions.
  • Participate in technical discussions.

Responsibilities

• Build backend architectures that solve real-world patient needs.
• Ensure strong quality practices, including end-to-end testing and higher test coverage.
• Advocate for continuous delivery and experience with OTA (over-the-air) updates.
• Translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Backend expertise with an understanding of mobile constraints and performance from API to device.
• AI-native engineering experience with LLMs and multi-agent setups.
• Quality & Testing: experience with end-to-end testing frameworks (e.g., Cypress) and guiding test/code-quality best practices.
• Modern delivery: advocate for continuous delivery; experience with OTA updates.
• Mobile bridge: understanding of the mobile ecosystem; React Native experience is helpful.
• Infrastructure & Scale: strong PostgreSQL knowledge; comfortable with AWS (Cognito), Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Backend core: expertise in Ruby on Rails and TypeScript in high-stakes production environments.

Nice to Have

• A proven track record using LLMs as a force multiplier in day-to-day development.
• Experience integrating backend solutions tightly with mobile/frontend requirements.
