Role overview

Senior Backend Engineer for Application Core Services (AppCore) within the Platform Foundations team. The AppCore team builds essential backend systems that support Grafana’s business operations and customer workflows, working at the intersection of product, platform, and business operations.

What you’ll be doing

AppCore Stacks squad responsibilities

Own systems that create, configure, reconcile, migrate, and operate Grafana Cloud stacks at scale.
Build control-plane services and workflows to keep stack state aligned across:
- grafana.com
- Stack State Service (SSS)
- Hosted Grafana
- cloud regions
- underlying Grafana Cloud infrastructure
Deliver reliable workflows including:
- dependable stack creation
- safe configuration rollouts
- predictable migrations
- fewer manual operational interventions

Reconciliation systems

Design, build, and operate reconciliation systems (including the SSS backend) to track desired stack state and detect drift.

Requirements

Enjoy solving complex workflow and systems problems.
Focus on reliability and improving developer experience.
Build software that supports both customers and internal stakeholders.

Location / remote policy

Remote role for applicants in USA time zones (EST + CST only).
