About the role
Role Overview
Join Grafana Labs as a Senior Backend Engineer (Alerting) to help shape the product roadmap and deliver backend features end-to-end—from ideation to production operations. You’ll design, build, operate, and maintain critical backend systems, while mentoring and supporting other team members.
Responsibilities
- Influence and support development of the company/product roadmap.
- Collaborate with the team to deliver new backend features and iterate based on results.
- Drive projects from initial ideation through shipping and ongoing operations for customer use.
- Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems.
- Mentor and support teammates.
Requirements
- Experience writing clean, robust, performant backend software that others can maintain.
- Solid experience with at least one programming language; Go is used, but similar languages are valued (e.g., Python, Java, C++, Rust).
- Ability to break down complex problems into modular solutions with short feedback loops; deliver MVPs, gather feedback/data, and iterate.
- Some experience building software that runs in the cloud or experience with systems engineering.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills in a fully remote environment.
- Customer-focused mindset and passion for building intuitive products.
- Experience delivering projects from requirements gathering and brainstorming to shipping.
Nice to Haves
- Experience specifically related to alerting or monitoring systems (implied by role focus).
