Senior Backend Engineer [33310]

Role Overview

Senior Backend Engineer to design, implement, and optimize mission-critical backend systems and APIs. You’ll contribute across infrastructure, platform engineering, and/or product-focused development, with direct impact on systems used by businesses and consumers.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable backend systems and APIs
• Ensure reliability, performance, security, and maintainability
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers for end-to-end delivery
• Participate in code reviews, testing, documentation, and engineering best practices
• Troubleshoot production issues and drive continuous improvements
• Mentor junior engineers and support technical leadership initiatives as appropriate

• Infrastructure: scalable/secure/highly available systems; reliability, performance, monitoring; cloud and distributed systems
• Platform: robust APIs, internal platforms, developer tools; scalability and productivity frameworks/services
• Product: backend services for customer-facing applications; scalable solutions improving user experience and business outcomes

Requirements

• Proficiency in backend languages such as Java, Go, or Node.js
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis)
• Familiarity with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
• Understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and distributed system architectures
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Docker and Kubernetes (or other containerization)
• CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices
• Event-driven architectures and large-scale distributed systems
• Exposure to high-volume transaction processing environments
• Leadership experience (mentoring, project ownership, technical guidance)

Work Model / Location

• In-office role in New York, United States with regular onsite collaboration.
