Senior Backend Engineer

Role overview

Join 1Komma5° as a Senior Backend Engineer in the Site Config team. You will design, build, and help evolve solutions that support Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS), working closely with a cross-functional team to scale globally.

Key missions

• Plan, build, and shape multiple business-critical applications and integrations.
• Help establish the foundation and architecture needed to scale globally.
• Collaborate on end-to-end solutions enabling seamless setup and configuration of customers’ HEMS.
• Promote experiment-driven innovation and reduce technical debt to improve developer satisfaction.

• Lead project orchestration within cross-functional teams across the full software development lifecycle.
• Communicate clearly in written and spoken English.

Requirements

• Proven experience shipping and monitoring scalable backend systems with TypeScript.
• Broad knowledge of architectural patterns and ability to implement them with modern DevOps best practices.
• Experience building backend software with strong ownership (development lifecycle, orchestration, execution).
• Interest in leveraging AI tools (including agentic coding) to increase impact.
• Experience with CI/CD and cloud infrastructure, specifically GitHub Actions plus GCP/Vercel.

Nice to have

• NestJS experience in large-scale applications (or similar backend frameworks).
• Experience with Next.js and/or Flutter.
• A strong interest in the home energy and renewable sector.

• Full remote with a connection to Munich, Germany (timezone/location constraint not specified beyond this).
