Senior Backend Developer - Node.js

Role overview

Join a remote-first engineering environment building backend systems for large-scale digital financial products. As a Senior Backend Developer (Node.js), you’ll help design and deliver secure, scalable, high-availability services across core platform architecture, APIs, and infrastructure resilience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services in Node.js and JavaScript for high-traffic production systems
• Develop platform features focused on speed, reliability, and user experience using Agile methods
• Improve scalability and performance for real-time services, APIs, and core backend infrastructure
• Build and optimize microservices to support growth and modular development
• Apply strong security standards across backend systems, APIs, authentication flows, and internal processes
• Integrate and optimize databases (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB) while ensuring data integrity and efficiency
• Monitor production systems, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve service reliability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with product goals

Requirements

• Strong backend experience with Node.js and JavaScript
• Experience with complex platforms, including large-scale and/or real-time architectures
• Solid understanding of microservices and distributed systems
• Hands-on experience with MySQL and/or MongoDB (or similar)
• Knowledge of backend security best practices and secure coding standards
• Ability to learn new tools/frameworks quickly
• Strong communication and an ownership mindset in remote teams

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Redis, caching layers, job queues, or message queue systems
• Exposure to blockchain integrations or high-availability systems
• Additional experience with Ruby, Rust, or C++
