Senior Backend Application Engineer - Product & Platform

Role Overview

Senior+ Backend Application Engineer (Product & Platform) for remote-US hiring. You will design and scale web services and ETL architecture in a fast-paced, data-intensive environment handling 10K+ transactions per second.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build robust, fault-tolerant web services and ETL pipelines that scale to high throughput.
• Design high-performance distributed/microservices systems for large-scale transaction volume.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve existing systems and integrate new technologies.
• Define and implement monitoring, testing, and deployment strategies for mission-critical services.
• Build new platform features used by critical organizations worldwide.
• Communicate effectively to bridge gaps between teams and clarify technical concepts.
• Help recruit and onboard colleagues; maintain engineering culture and high technical standards.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience focused on web services and ETL systems.
• Proven ability to scale high-volume, data-intensive systems.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and cloud architectures.
• Familiarity with containerization, orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with commercial software products (SaaS and/or on-prem) serving external customers.
• Experience in early-stage technology environments (e.g., B2B SaaS startups).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with primary stack languages to ramp quickly: TypeScript, MongoDB, Go, Python.

Nice to Have

• Strong experience with MongoDB and other data stores.
• Familiarity with AI/ML, LLMs, and model tuning.
• Background in infosec/red teaming or broader cybersecurity concepts.
• Experience with DevSecOps/SDLC security tooling (e.g., SCA, DAST, SAST) and security practices.
