Senior Back End Engineer [Remote-US]

Role Overview

Senior Backend Engineer (Remote-US) at Quanata. You will build and enhance critical backend services that power the company’s financial and underwriting operations, coordinate machine learning–driven policy intelligence, and improve application architecture and observability for performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement client-facing and internal APIs
• Orchestrate data flows between backend systems
• Create and manage database schemas
• Create and maintain automated test suites
• Lead end-to-end design and implementation of substantial product features
• Evaluate and integrate third-party services and tools
• Mentor mid-level and junior engineers on the team

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 5–7+ years in a full stack or backend engineering role
• Proficiency with Go
• Experience designing, developing, debugging, and deploying high-performance client/server systems for mission-critical applications
• Comfort working with relational and non-relational databases
• Familiarity with messaging systems (and the ability to choose appropriately)
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and modern CI/CD
• Knowledge of security and testing best practices
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Growth mindset with willingness to take initiative and be accountable

Nice to Have

• Experience with GraphQL, gRPC, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Snowflake, Kafka, Python, TypeScript, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS
• Prior experience in financial services (insurance, banking, investing)

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $195,000–$280,000 (final offer depends on skills/experience and internal structure)
