About the role
Role overview
You’ll join Abacum as a Senior Back End Engineer (Integrations) on the integrations team. The role focuses on building and scaling Abacum’s integrations platform to ingest, normalize, and annotate business data used by finance planning workflows.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop Abacum’s integrations platform (ingest, normalize, and annotate business data)
- Build and scale bidirectional integrations with platforms such as:
- Billing
- Accounting
- ERP
- Commerce
- HRIS
- Work across multiple languages/ecosystems to read, adapt, and extend integration-specific code (e.g., ERP scripting frameworks and vendor SDKs)
- Implement and manage authentication and identity flows, including:
- OAuth 2.0 / OIDC
- SSO providers (Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Google Workspace)
- SAML
- Service-to-service authentication
- Manage token lifecycles and secure communication (e.g., access/refresh/JWT/API keys, TLS/HTTPS, signed requests, secret management)
- Architect low-code/no-code integration tooling, such as connector builders and declarative DSLs (including LLM-assisted workflows)
- Ensure integrations are secure, resilient, and performant at scale, handling high-volume financial/transactional data
- Partner with product and operations to incorporate customer feedback and continuously improve the product
Requirements
- Fluency in multiple backend programming languages and ecosystems beyond core stack (not limited to Python/Django)
- Strong capability implementing authentication/authorization for enterprise integrations
- Comfort handling tokens, secure protocols, and secret management
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with ERP scripting frameworks (e.g., SuiteScript)
- Experience building integration strategies and platforms (unified API vs in-house vs contractors)
- Familiarity with low-code/no-code connector tooling and declarative workflow design
