Role Overview

Senior AWS Consultant (100% Remote, United States)

You will design, build, and operate large-scale, secure, and highly available AWS cloud platforms for mission-critical workloads. This is a deeply hands-on role covering cloud architecture, infrastructure-as-code, automation, security, observability, and continuous operational improvement.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and operate enterprise AWS environments across compute, networking, storage, identity, and managed data services with a focus on scalability, reliability, and security.
• Create and maintain production-grade Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK with version control, peer review, and automated validation.
• Design multi-account AWS organizations (landing zones, SCPs, centralized logging, shared services) for secure enterprise adoption.
• Build secure VPC architectures (subnets, route tables, transit gateways, VPN, Direct Connect) to meet enterprise connectivity and isolation needs.
• Implement IAM least-privilege strategies using roles, permission boundaries, SCPs, AWS SSO, and short-lived credentials.
• Design and operate Amazon EKS clusters and other container platforms (ECS, Fargate) including autoscaling, networking, service mesh, and observability integration.
• Operate and optimize managed data/analytics services including RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB, S3, Redshift, Glue, and Kinesis.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with AWS CodePipeline/CodeBuild and tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
• Establish observability using CloudWatch, X-Ray, AWS Distro for OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, plus third-party tools (dashboards, alerts, SLOs).
• Drive cost optimization (right-sizing, Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, lifecycle policies) and track measurable savings.
• Implement disaster recovery and business continuity (cross-region replication, automated backups, failover testing, runbooks).
• Improve security posture using AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, Macie, Inspector, AWS Config, CloudTrail and remediate findings with security teams.
• Advise application teams on AWS-native design patterns and appropriate service choices.
• Develop automation/operational tooling in Python, Bash, and Go to streamline work and accelerate incident response.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead architecture/design reviews; contribute to cloud community knowledge-sharing.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience.
• Strong working knowledge of AWS service portfolio.
• Deep DevOps fundamentals and practical, cost-aware cloud design.
• Hands-on experience operating production AWS workloads.

Nice-to-Haves / Preferred Skills

• Container orchestration experience (EKS, and ideally ECS/Fargate).
• Observability and telemetry experience (CloudWatch/X-Ray/OpenTelemetry/Prometheus/Grafana).
• Strong security tooling experience (Security Hub/GuardDuty/Macie/Inspector/Config/CloudTrail).
• Experience with disaster recovery, operational runbooks, and measurable cost optimization.
