About the role

Role Overview

Provide cloud architecting support to design enterprise-level AWS infrastructures for GAO, spanning multiple environments (sandbox, analytical, research, development, testing, and production). Architect prototypes and ensure scalable security, technology reuse, and optimized cloud usage. Support deployment, operationalization, and maintenance of government prototypes, including conversion to production tools.

Responsibilities

Design and govern AWS infrastructure for the application portfolio:
- VPC design, subnet segmentation, routing, NAT gateways, and security groups
- IAM policy design using least-privilege principles
Perform solutions architecture for new applications:
- Deployment strategies, service selection, and integration patterns
Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC):
- CloudFormation, Terraform, and AWS CDK
Manage environments (development, staging, production)
Integrate with enterprise security controls (e.g., Palo Alto firewalls)
Create architectural documentation to support Authority to Operate (ATO) requirements
Govern and optimize cloud costs

Requirements

U.S. citizenship
Ability to go through a Public Trust Clearance process

Experience supporting government prototypes and transitioning them to production
