About the role

Role Overview

As a Senior Automation Engineer at SmithRx, you will own the end-to-end test strategy for the products you support. You’ll take an automation-first approach to determine where tests will deliver maximum impact, build and improve regression suites, and act as the primary quality advocate within your sprint team.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain automated tests to ensure strong coverage and fast feedback
Continuously improve test frameworks for reliability, efficiency, and usability
Own test strategy and sprint planning for product testing
Create test documentation (e.g., test plans and test cases)
Find, report, and track bugs through resolution
Collaborate with Product to provide testing insights that shape impactful features
Provide clear test results to Engineering and Product to manage expectations and progress
Maintain and improve security and performance tests
Build deep expertise in SmithRx products
Use AI tools (Playwright MCP, Claude, Copilot) to improve daily efficiency
Maintain quality metrics to track and communicate overall product health

Requirements

5+ years of experience in QA and automation testing with a demonstrated track record
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Nice-to-haves (implied)

Strong test framework ownership and continuous improvement mindset
Experience with security/performance testing and quality metrics
