Senior Application Development Engineer

Role Overview

The Senior Application Development Engineer leads the design, development, and delivery of secure, high-quality web and mobile experiences for HSA Bank’s SecureSave Emergency Savings product. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering across modern web frameworks and native/cross-platform mobile, while owning the mobile release pipeline and partnering with backend, QA, security, product, and compliance teams.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture

• Define and own front-end and mobile architecture across web and native platforms.
• Lead web development using Vue.js and mobile development using React Native.
• Apply native iOS/Android expertise where required.
• Establish best practices for performance, accessibility, scalability, and maintainability.
• Maintain consistent UI/UX patterns across platforms while enabling platform-appropriate experiences.

Mobile Engineering & Deployment

• Own and manage the mobile CI/CD and deployment pipeline.
• Handle App Store Connect and Google Play releases.
• Manage code signing, certificates, and provisioning profiles.
• Implement versioning, phased rollouts, hotfixes, and rollback strategies.
• Ensure reliable build automation, testing, and release processes.
• Partner with QA to implement automated testing strategies for web and mobile.

Security & Compliance

• Design and implement secure front-end and mobile application patterns aligned with banking/FinTech standards.
• Partner with security, risk, and compliance to meet regulatory requirements for data protection and authentication/authorization.
• Ensure secure handling of sensitive data, secrets, and credentials.
• Support security reviews, audits, penetration testing, and remediation.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading engineering teams and technical initiatives.
• Strong programming experience with Vue.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, and React Native.
• Native iOS and Android hands-on knowledge.
• Experience owning and operating mobile deployment pipelines.
• Solid understanding of front-end security and secure mobile development.
• Experience in regulated environments (banking/FinTech or similar).
• Knowledge of authentication and authorization patterns (OAuth, OpenID Connect, MFA).
• T-SQL database design/programming with MS SQL Server.
• Familiarity with design patterns, best practices, SDLC, and modern CI/CD tools.
• Ability to perform technical analysis and database/file access methods.
• Experience designing and implementing clean architecture.
• Experience working in Agile.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design.
• Experience integrating with backend APIs and distributed systems.
• Experience supporting audits and SOC reviews.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in a directly related field (preferred).
