Senior Android Mobile Engineer

Role overview

Senior Android Mobile Engineer (Kotlin, Compose Multiplatform) working on Birdie, TenFore Golf’s POS and tee sheet booking app. The role is remote (async) and focuses on shipping real features to golf courses, with hands-on work integrating hardware and evolving the desktop/UX experience.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship features in Birdie used by real golf course operations
• Work close to the “metal” on operator tools used during peak check-in periods
• Integrate and support hardware such as:
  • card readers
  • scanners
  • receipt printers
• Use AI tools (e.g., Claude/Anthropic API) to move faster while verifying outputs and debugging/migrating confidently
• Update Birdie to Compose Multiplatform and ensure it runs on Windows 11
• Implement UI/UX designs provided by the team into the app
• Occasionally assist with back-end/API needs, primarily tied to .NET (legacy with migration to .NET 8)
• Operate with async collaboration and minimal meetings

Requirements

• Strong Kotlin experience
• Solid knowledge of Compose (Multiplatform experience is a plus; strong Jetpack Compose is acceptable)
• Comfortable building with AI (Claude, Anthropic API, LLM integration, prompt work)
• Strong ownership mindset: take ambiguous problems, ask good questions, and deliver working solutions
• Ability to work async and manage time independently

Nice to have

• Desktop Compose Multiplatform experience for keyboards/mice and larger screens
• Experience with API work, especially C#/.NET for POS or internal tooling
• Experience building operator/internal software where reliability matters (e.g., handling network drops mid-transaction)
• Experience integrating real-world hardware (kiosks, card readers, printers, scanners)
