About the role
Role Overview
Senior Android Engineer joining a remote-first team building Android applications for mission-critical, connectivity-challenged environments. You’ll work on features that integrate mobile apps with custom hardware and cloud services, with strong emphasis on reliability and clarity over app-store metrics.
Responsibilities
- Hands-on Android development (approx. 70%)
- Technical planning and design (approx. 10%)
- Cross-functional collaboration with backend, firmware, and hardware teams (approx. 20%), including:
- Connectivity and data synchronization
- Offline-first design
- Hardware-adjacent communication (e.g., Bluetooth/USB)
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of professional Android development
- Kotlin and modern Android architecture
- Production experience using Coroutines
- Experience with hardware-adjacent features (Bluetooth, USB, or similar)
- Ability to own features end-to-end (concept through deployment)
Desired Skills & Experience
- Kotlin Multiplatform
- Jetpack Compose in production
- Experience building SDKs or shared client libraries
- Exposure to IoT, satellite, or offline-first mobile systems
Location / Work Setup
- Fully remote within the United States
