About the role
Role Overview
Join a remote-first team building Android applications for mission-critical scenarios where connectivity is limited and reliability matters more than app store metrics.
Responsibilities
- Own features from concept through deployment
- Deliver hands-on Android development (majority of the role)
- Support technical planning and design
- Collaborate closely with backend, firmware, and hardware teams
- Build and improve systems involving:
- Connectivity challenges
- Data synchronization
- Offline-first behavior
Tech Focus (Approximate Split)
- 60% Android: Kotlin, Coroutines, Jetpack Compose
- 20% Hardware communication: Bluetooth, USB, device protocols
- 20% Cross-functional collaboration with platform teams
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional Android development
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin and modern Android architecture
- Production experience using Coroutines
- Experience building production applications
- Experience with hardware-adjacent features (e.g., Bluetooth, USB)
- Ability to own features end-to-end
Nice-to-Haves
- Kotlin Multiplatform
- Jetpack Compose in production environments
- Experience with SDKs or shared client libraries
- Exposure to IoT, satellite, or offline-first mobile systems
Contract/Work Details
- Full-time, fully remote within the United States
