Role Overview

Join a remote-first team building Android applications for mission-critical scenarios where connectivity is limited and reliability matters more than app store metrics.

Responsibilities

Own features from concept through deployment
Deliver hands-on Android development (majority of the role)
Support technical planning and design
Collaborate closely with backend, firmware, and hardware teams
Build and improve systems involving:
- Connectivity challenges
- Data synchronization
- Offline-first behavior

Tech Focus (Approximate Split)

60% Android: Kotlin, Coroutines, Jetpack Compose
20% Hardware communication: Bluetooth, USB, device protocols
20% Cross-functional collaboration with platform teams

Required Qualifications

5+ years of professional Android development
Strong proficiency in Kotlin and modern Android architecture
Production experience using Coroutines
Experience building production applications
Experience with hardware-adjacent features (e.g., Bluetooth, USB)
Ability to own features end-to-end

Nice-to-Haves

Kotlin Multiplatform
Jetpack Compose in production environments
Experience with SDKs or shared client libraries
Exposure to IoT, satellite, or offline-first mobile systems

Contract/Work Details

Full-time, fully remote within the United States
