Senior Android Engineer (Clients Platform)

Role overview

Join Reddit as a Senior Android Engineer and serve as a technical leader for the Android organization. You’ll shape the Reddit Android app architecture to scale for the next 100M+ daily active users, improve developer experience, and strengthen client health and observability—while mentoring other engineers.

Key missions

• Architect & scale Reddit’s Android app for 100M+ DAUs.
• Build developer tools, workflows, and CI integrations to make Android development and releases fast and safe.
• Define and operationalize guardrails to catch issues early, including:
  • lint/static analysis
  • tests
  • AI-assisted reviews
• Build and evolve client health and observability foundations.
• Apply AI to engineering workflows with measurable impact.
• Mentor and support Android engineers through design reviews, documentation, and education on platform capabilities.

Requirements

• Modern Android mastery: Jetpack Compose and Kotlin Coroutines.
• 8+ years software development experience, with 4+ years designing/developing Android applications.
• Strong background in Android platform/infrastructure, such as:
  • shared libraries
  • startup/session orchestration
  • core networking/caching
• Experience working in a large codebase (100+ engineers) serving millions of DAUs.
• Practical experience applying AI to engineering workflows with clear measurable benefit.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence technical direction across teams.
