Senior Analytics Engineer

Role Overview

Spark is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to join its Data team. You will shape Spark’s core data models, pipelines, and analytics foundations that power internal decision-making and customer-facing products.

What You’ll Do

• Design, optimize, and maintain scalable ELT pipelines using AWS tooling, Snowflake, and dbt
• Own critical data models, ensuring they are well-documented, tested, performant, and trusted across the organization
• Drive standardization and automation across data workflows to reduce manual effort and improve reliability
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Carrier Relations, and Operations to translate ambiguous business needs into durable data solutions
• Set best practices for data quality, testing, and observability
• Lead medium- to large-scale data initiatives end-to-end, including technical design, execution, stakeholder communication, and delivery
• Mentor Analytics Engineers through technical guidance, code review, and coaching
• Influence the data team’s strategy, tooling decisions, modeling patterns, and long-term architecture

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering (or closely related)
• Advanced SQL with a track record building and maintaining production-grade data models
• Deep experience with dbt, including testing, documentation, and modular modeling patterns
• Ability to own ambiguous problems and turn them into well-designed data solutions
• Strong instincts for data quality/correctness and edge-case handling in messy or incomplete datasets
• Experience automating and improving data workflows with modern cloud/analytics tooling
• Excellent communication skills; able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
