About the role

Role overview

Senior Analytics Engineer on HubSpot’s Data & AI Foundations team within Operations. You will design and build a modern data foundation to enable efficient analytics and machine learning products that improve decision-making across Operations.

Responsibilities

Build and optimize data pipelines and analytical tools for scale
Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to connect business problems to technical solutions
Contribute to core data assets used for equitable book-of-business assignments for sales reps
Build and maintain semantic models to support analytics and AI consumption
Create scalable data models for key parts of the HubSpot business
Expand dbt patterns and macros for flexible, extensible data structures
Improve data observability and pipeline reliability (e.g., with Monte Carlo)
Build analytical applications in Hex to enable stakeholder self-service
Gather requirements, participate in working groups, and contribute across the project lifecycle
Document pipelines, processes, and best practices; help drive shared analytics standards across HubSpot

Requirements

Working knowledge of modern data tools such as Snowflake, dbt, and Looker
Proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and ETL/ELT and data transformation
Hands-on dbt experience (modeling patterns, macros, and testing)
Experience building slowly changing dimension (SCD) tables from multiple sources
Ability to work through inherited complexity (reverse-engineer existing models/pipelines/reporting logic)
Strong communication skills across formats (video, wikis, decks, guided exercises)
Ability to write/review technical and end-user documentation (requirements, design docs, data standards/policies)
Experience contributing to cross-functional data initiatives from requirements through production
Familiarity with semantic models/metric layers for analytics consumption
Comfort with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code)
Experience using version control (e.g., GitHub Enterprise Cloud)
Collaborative mindset with strong attention to detail and a quality focus
