Role overview

Join Skylight’s expanding Data team as a Senior Analytics Engineer (Finance & Operations). You will partner closely with Finance and Operations to build and govern the data layer that powers leadership reporting.

Responsibilities

Partner with Finance and Operations to understand business processes and define pipeline requirements.
Own the Finance/Operations data layer: bring new data into the warehouse and build dashboards/metrics.
Design and document data flows between source systems and implement data quality validation checks.
Govern key metrics (definitions, reconciliation, assumptions) and ensure reliable reporting.
Develop and maintain dashboards for leadership.
Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities in data integration and metrics.

Requirements

5+ years in an analytics/analytics engineering role with exposure to financial or operational datasets.
Strong SQL skills.
Experience building reusable, well-structured data models in a cloud data warehouse environment (ideally Snowflake).
Experience with BI and/or semantic-layer tools (e.g., Omni, Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Sigma).
Demonstrated data quality mindset: validating outputs, reconciling discrepancies, documenting assumptions, and creating checks for critical metrics.
Strong stakeholder management: gather requirements, manage expectations, communicate tradeoffs, and push back constructively.
Ability to translate business processes into data models, metrics, dashboards, and documentation.
Comfort working in an early-stage/evolving data environment where ownership and systems may still be forming.

Nice-to-haves

Experience with wholesalers and EDI.
Experience with source-of-truth systems such as:
- ERP (NetSuite)
- WMS
- TMS (OSCA)
- CPM (Pigment)
