Senior Analyst, Compliance Technology

Role Overview

Coinbase is hiring a Senior Analyst, Compliance Technology (Analytics Engineer) for the Compliance Technology team within Platform. The team builds and operates data and detection capabilities that support Coinbase’s global BSA/AML and related regulatory obligations.

Responsibilities

• Build and own end-to-end data pipelines powering compliance detection and decisioning.
• Create and maintain curated datasets and data models (e.g., case, alert, entity, transaction, risk features) for Transaction Monitoring, EDD/KYC, and Screening systems.
• Ensure data quality for compliance datasets using validation checks, monitoring, lineage tracking, and documentation for audit-ready outputs.
• Partner with cross-functional Engineering and Compliance stakeholders to:
  • Close upstream data gaps
  • Standardize instrumentation
  • Translate control requirements into scalable data structures and feature sets
• Improve detection signal quality by analyzing outputs, reducing non-actionable noise, and defining success metrics for rollouts.
• Execute measurement frameworks for compliance control effectiveness (e.g., coverage, timeliness, stability, and outcome-based metrics).
• Build repeatable reporting pipelines consumable by Compliance leadership, operations teams, and auditors.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or other data-heavy technical roles.
• Advanced SQL: complex transformations, performance tuning, and data quality checks.
• Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and data models using dbt, Airflow, or equivalent orchestration/transformation frameworks.
• Ability to deliver on ambiguous, cross-functional work in regulated environments, with strong written and verbal communication.
• Python skills for automation, pipeline development, and data analysis.
• Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and measurable workflow improvements.
