About the role

Role Overview

Join Beacon Biosignals as a Senior Algorithm Engineer working on biosignal-based algorithms for medical devices. You will help advance sleep, neurological, and psychiatric therapy development by building and improving machine and deep learning models, from requirements through production and client-facing delivery.

Responsibilities

Lead the end-to-end biosignal algorithm development lifecycle for medical devices:
- Specifications and requirements gathering
- Data curation and labeling
- Model development and experimentation
- Failure analysis
- Production deployment, maintenance, and documentation
Choose and implement the most suitable approach per problem (deep learning vs. traditional methods)
Enhance and maintain internal ML/DL tools to improve team efficiency
Introduce new model architectures and algorithmic techniques
Refine the codebase to improve reusability and enable rapid experimentation
Contribute to formal validation and quality/regulatory documentation
Support client-facing projects where applicable

Requirements

5+ years of industry experience in machine learning and deep learning
Strong proficiency with PyTorch (preferred) or equivalent deep learning frameworks
Experience with DSP, statistics, and selecting the right tool beyond ML/DL
Experience with biosignals and/or medical imaging data and/or large time-series datasets
Ability to explain and present technical topics to internal and external stakeholders
Experience participating across scoping, experimentation, formal validation, production, and client collaboration
Familiarity with modern deep learning advances (e.g., Transformers/ViT, large-scale modeling)

Nice to Have

Domain experience specifically in health sciences or other regulated fields
A proven track record bringing algorithms into production in regulated environments
Strong ML/software engineering best practices (testing, version control, code reviews, documentation, Dockerization, CI/CD, experiment tracking)
