Senior AI System Software Developer

Role overview

Build production-grade first-party AI system software end-to-end for Wealthsimple’s AI Systems team. This is a hands-on engineering role shipping real internal tools and client-facing capabilities, not a research position.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate first-party AI tools and platforms for internal teams and Wealthsimple clients
• Develop full-stack features across React frontends and Golang backend services
• Collaborate with stakeholders across product, engineering, operations, and business to identify and deliver AI-driven features
• Build and maintain containerized microservices to keep AI platforms reliable, scalable, and easy to deploy
• Integrate large language models via well-designed APIs and service layers
• Contribute to platform architecture decisions for how AI systems are built and operated
• Iterate on features and prototypes while balancing delivery speed with long-term maintainability
• Establish reusable patterns and best practices for AI system development

Requirements

• Experience shipping production software as a full-stack or backend-focused developer
• Strong proficiency in Golang and React (or the ability to ramp quickly on both)
• Hands-on experience with Docker/Kubernetes and cloud-native deployment patterns
• Interest in or experience with AI/ML systems, LLM integrations, or AI-powered products
• Ability to work across the stack: UI, APIs, and backend services
• Product-oriented mindset and clear communication with technical and non-technical teams
• Comfort working in a fast-moving environment with evolving priorities/technology

Nice to have

• Experience with developer tools, internal platforms, or productivity software
• Familiarity with LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic), prompt engineering, or RAG patterns
• Background in event-driven/streaming architectures
• Experience with CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code
• Experience in financial services or other regulated industries
