About the role

Role overview

Join Alpaca as a Senior AI Platform Engineer. You will build and maintain the AI platform infrastructure that enables teams to scale from isolated AI experiments to lasting productivity gains. You’ll collaborate across engineering and product teams and help set technical standards for agent execution, evaluation loops, and deployments.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain the AI platform infrastructure, including:
- Platform capabilities and connectors
- Models of execution
- Self-service tools for developers
Define and apply technical standards for:
- Agent execution
- Evaluation loops
- Deployment of higher-autonomy systems
Support AI governance and operational reliability with controls such as:
- Access boundaries
- Audit logging
- Approval workflows
- Safe deployment standards
Enable production-grade agentic workflows with real external tool access (e.g., filesystems, APIs, staging systems).

Requirements

Cloud-native experience using containers, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Direct experience with GCP (Google Cloud)
Strong bias toward simplification, standardization, and operational reliability
Excellent communication skills across engineering, security, and non-technical stakeholders
8+ years in software, platform, infrastructure, or adjacent engineering roles
Experience operating in both fast-moving environments and more structured, compliance-aware settings

Agentic AI / platform experience

Hands-on experience building agentic AI systems (LLM-powered workflows, tool-calling agents, evaluation loops, autonomous execution)
- Frameworks such as Claude SDK, Google Agent Development Kit (ADK), LangGraph, or similar
- Not classical ML/data pipeline work
Strong experience with APIs, authentication (OAuth), secrets, CLI tooling, and deployment patterns
Hands-on experience with managed agent execution platforms, such as:
- Google Agent Engine (Vertex AI Agent Builder) or equivalent
Experience building self-service developer platforms / golden paths used by multiple teams
Experience designing or operating agent sandboxing/isolation and evaluation frameworks
Experience with AI-native coding environments (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) and how they fit into real workflows

Nice to have

Startup experience; ability to build durably with limited resources
Familiarity with fintech and regulated / compliance-aware environments
