Senior AI Engineer

Role Overview

VulnCheck is seeking a Senior AI Software Engineer to design and build AI systems that automate real parts of the vulnerability research and exploit development lifecycle. The role is 100% remote within the United States and involves end-to-end ownership of backend systems, data pipelines, and AI-driven tooling.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop AI systems that automate stages of the exploit development lifecycle, including:
  • vulnerability analysis
  • patch diffing
  • PoC discovery and generation
  • exploit validation
  • signature creation
• Build evaluation and validation frameworks to ensure correctness, reliability, and safety of AI-generated exploit code before production.
• Design and implement scalable backend systems, APIs, and data pipelines supporting AI-driven vulnerability exploitation capabilities.
• Own services end-to-end: architecture, development, deployment, and operations.
• Lead technical design discussions and contribute to architecture decisions.
• Debug complex production issues and implement long-term, scalable solutions.
• Improve performance, reliability, and observability across the platform.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software development experience building and scaling production systems.
• Strong programming skills in Go and/or Python, with a focus on maintainable, high-quality engineering.
• Proven experience building and operating AI-powered production systems, including:
  • multi-step agentic workflows
  • tool-use integration
  • prompt engineering with systematic evaluation
  • reliability engineering for non-deterministic outputs
• Experience building evaluation frameworks for correctness and safety of AI-generated code.
• Deep understanding of APIs, system design, and cloud infrastructure (AWS mentioned).

Nice to Have

• Experience directly related to security/offensive security workflows such as detection engineering and exploit lifecycle automation (implied by the role scope).
