About the role
Role overview
As Senior Accountant at Rythm, you will be at the center of the company’s growing finance function. Working closely with the Head of Finance and founders, you will own key parts of the close, ensure books are accurate and GAAP-aligned, and help design scalable, automated accounting processes.
Responsibilities
- Own key components of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
- Prepare complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Own assigned balance sheet and income statement components
- Perform monthly flux and variance analysis and explain period-over-period drivers
- Prepare GAAP-aligned financial statements and monthly reporting packages for founders, board, and investors
- Improve accounting processes in the general ledger (GL), including revenue, accounts receivable, accruals, inventory, and COGS
- Run quarterly reconciliation reviews to ensure compliance with company policy and U.S. GAAP
- Research and document accounting conclusions in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Redesign and automate routine processes (e.g., journal entries and reconciliations) using AI tools
- Support internal controls and documentation as the company scales
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Partnerships, Legal, and Product
- Support external audit and tax workstreams with the external CPA
- Drive special projects from identification through implementation
Requirements
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience (ideally a mix of public accounting and high-growth startup/consumer subscription environments)
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including research and clear documentation of technical conclusions
- Demonstrated ownership of month-end close components (journal entries, reconciliations, flux/variance analysis)
- Systems fluency: modern GL platforms and advanced Excel ( SQL is a plus )
- Fluency with AI tools and willingness to apply AI daily
- Process-improvement mindset and comfort with pace/ambiguity in an early-stage company
- CPA or active CPA candidate preferred
