Senior Accountant

Role Overview

Senior Accountant (Part-time, remote) responsible for overseeing core accounting functions and ensuring accurate financial reporting for real estate/mortgage transactions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements
• Manage general ledger entries and ensure accurate recordkeeping
• Reconcile accounts and maintain accurate records of real estate financing transactions
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting
• Monitor cash flow
• Support month-end and year-end close processes
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations
• Work with management to provide financial insights
• Support external audits as needed

Requirements

• Strong financial accounting and reporting skills (GL management, financial statement preparation)
• Proficiency with accounting software and tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel, and other financial systems)
• Knowledge of mortgage/real estate/financial services accounting (loan and transaction recording)
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis
• Understanding of relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and compliance
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with high attention to detail
• Clear written and verbal communication; ability to explain financials to non-finance stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively in a remote setting
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related field (preferred)

Nice to Have

• Professional certification such as CPA or CMA
• Prior experience in a senior or lead accounting role, preferably in real estate, mortgage, or financial services
