Senior Accountant, GL Accounting

Role Overview

Senior Accountant, GL Accounting at ButterflyMX. The role supports month-end close processes, journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and audit readiness. You will report to the Accounting Manager and collaborate cross-functionally with AP, AR, Business Systems, FP&A, Inventory Management, and Operations.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close preparation tasks:
  • Prepare journal entries with strong support
  • Complete BS reconciliations
  • Build supporting schedules for financial reporting
  • Prepare documents for audit requests
• Perform month-over-month balance sheet and P&L analyses and explain large variances
• Identify missing revenue/expenses and determine whether to accrue
• Maintain documentation in line with US GAAP
• Support annual audit by answering auditor questions
• Streamline processes and improve existing procedures; collaborate with Accounting Manager/Controller on solutions
• Assist in establishing and implementing internal controls and accounting policies
• Research US GAAP technical topics as needed
• Manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines with strong attention to detail

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• 2–3 years of accounting experience (industry GL and/or public audit, or mixed)
• Solid understanding of US GAAP and key accounting areas including:
  • Revenue recognition
  • AR and deferred revenue
  • Inventory/COGS
  • AP/accrued expenses
  • Prepaids
  • Fixed assets
• Hands-on experience with month-end close activities (e.g., JEs, reconciliations, variance analysis, financial reporting)

Preferred

• CPA preferred (open to candidates in the process of obtaining CPA licensure)
• Ability to work in the Eastern Time zone
• Self-starter with continuous improvement mindset
